This was conveyed by the Head of Information Military Command (Kapenrem) 172 / PWY, Major Chk Eka Yudha Kurniawan, SH, in his written release in Jayapura City, Papua, Saturday (07/25/2020). Kapenrem stated, the three Battalion of the RI-PNG Task Force were 509 / BY Battalions, 300 / BJW Battalions, and 713 / ST Battalions.
"The three battalions have carried out their duties as RI-PNG Task Force for approximately nine months," he said.
He further said, the farewell ceremony was led directly by Danrem 172 / PWY as the ceremony Inspector representing Military Commander XVII / Cenderawasih Maj. Gen. Herman Asaribab, at the Pelindo Port of Jayapura, Jayapura City, Friday (24/7/2020).
Military Commander XVII / Cenderawasih Maj. Gen. Herman Asaribab in his written remarks read by Danrem expressed his highest gratitude and appreciation for all the devotion given during the assignment in the Papua region. "We all realize that the burden of duty, the level of difficulty and the severity of the conditions that you experienced while carrying out tasks in this area have become a valuable experience," he explained. "Make this experience as learning and a means of improving yourself to face future tasks," explained the Military Commander.
Herman Asaribab also suggested to the soldiers, that during the trip back to the main unit, pay attention to health factors, especially the Covid-19 health protocol in the current global pandemic. "In addition, pay attention to the security of personnel and material, avoid things that can harm the name of the unit or yourself," he continued.
"Remember, the family is currently waiting for your presence to regroup. Give my respect and appreciation to each family, "pleaded Herman.
A similar sentiment was also conveyed by Danrem Brigadier General Izak Pangemanan who said that during the implementation of the task as the RI-PNG Task Force Koraksops Korem 172 / PWY, the three battalions were able to carry out their duties properly, smoothly and successfully.
"Thank you for the cooperation that has helped the Korem 172 / PWY task in maintaining and securing the RI-PNG border area seriously and responsibly," he explained. "You have also won the hearts of the people and provided optimal service in creating security and order in the border region," he concluded proudly.
After the farewell ceremony, as a token of gratitude, Danrem, who was also the Operations Commander, handed over awards and souvenirs to each unit which have accomplished the mission.
