(TNI Information Center). The TNI Commander's Operations Staff received the Hasan Wirajuda Indonesian Citizens Protection Award (HWICPA) from the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA). The award was handed over virtually by the Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Lestari Priansari Marsudi, S.I.P., LL.M to the Operations Assistant (Asops) Commander of the TNI, Maj. Gen. Tiopan Aritonang, S.I.P. represented by the Deputy Assistant Marsma TNI Ir. Tedi Rizalihadi S., M.M., at Soehanna Hall, Energy Building, Jakarta, Friday (18/12/20).
In her remarks, the Indonesian Foreign Minister said that since 2015 the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has given appreciation and at the same time garnering support from the stakeholders and parties who have contributed significantly and supported the government's efforts in carrying out the task of protecting Indonesian citizens abroad. In regard to this, the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs appointed the TNI Commander's Operations Staff as one of the HWPA recipients from 22 individuals and institutions both at the homeland and overseas. This stipulation was based on the contribution and good cooperation that has been provided by the Operations Staff of the TNI Commander in supporting the implementation of the protection of Indonesian citizens abroad, particularly in relation to the evacuation missions and repatriation handling of the Indonesian citizens during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Meanwhile, on behalf of the TNI, the Deputy Assistant expressed his gratitude for the appreciation given by the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the TNI. He further stated that protecting all Indonesians wherever they are as well as and protecting the state's sovereignty are actually part of the main duty of the TNI. Thus, TNI always works hand in hand with all states' components.
