To the media crew in Timika, TNI Commander in Chief Marshal TNI Dr. (H.C.) Hadi Tjahjanto, S.I.P. explained that the jump was part of the Operations Preparedness Training (LKO) which was held in the Defence Area Combined Command (Kogabwilhan) III area of responsibilities.

Furthermore, the TNI Commander stated that LKO is one type of training that is routinely held by all TNI main units in the Republic of Indonesia. Some time ago, for example LKO was also held in Selaru, Morotai, and in several TNI main units areas. The purpose of the LKO is to test the TNI Main Units Operational Plan (RO) in order to deal with contingencies in their respective regions, the TNI Commander continued.

LKO in the Papua region is intended to test RO Main Units of Kogabwilhan III, which include Kodam XVII / Cendrawasih, Kodam XVIII / Kasuari, Koarmada III and Koopsau III. LKO in Papua is also intended to test the effectiveness of the newly formed Kogabwilhan III Operational Control Command based on Presidential Regulation 66 of 2019. The RO tested includes RO of TNI Assistance to the National Police in handling social conflicts and RO of securing national vital objects.

With the parachutists wearing sinterklaas and presenting gifts to the people is intended to cherish the coming Chrismas Eve and to entertain the local people. This was also part of the social function of TNI to maintain the close relationships with the people and the spirit of the Unity of TNI and the people.
